The type of Cajon mainly depends on the producers who produce a cajon for different purposes. As Cajon found its way across the world, the amount under “the types of Cajon ” also increased.  Peruvian Cajon, Cuban Cajon, Flamenco Cajon, Snare Cajon, Bongo Cajon, Bata Cajon, and so on are the main types of Cajon, popular among percussionists. The key difference among the various types of Cajon is the type of snare used.

For example, Peruvian Cajon does not have any snares and appears to be only a wooden box. On the other hand, guitar strings are used in place of snares in Flamenco Cajon. Snare Cajon is the one where actual snares can be seen. With such differences in snare usage and a few other parts, all of these Cajons produce very distinct sounds and therefore are used for quite different types of songs. Hence, it can be stated that “the types of Cajon” increased simultaneously with the increased style of music and taste of percussionists.
